Licence Training

Stockport Radio Society

Welcomes you to the World of Amateur Radio

Since the UK licence structure changed some years ago we offered training opportunities for enthusiasts to gain their licence and progress through the various categories. The pandemic meant we had to stop all face-to-face tuition, however courses have continued to be available with remote learning being set up by those clubs still able to offer free tuition remotely.

For the Foundation Licence we recommend “Ham Train” run by Essex Hams, (please check their website for course start dates) who have been offering remote tuition for a number of years, with an excellent pass rate. (Link below)

There are other remote learning teams on the Radio Society of Great Britain’s (RSGB) website. See link below.

The RSGB exams are now all taken remotely using the Test Reach system.

As a candidate, it will be necessary for you to book and pay for the examination directly through the RSGB’s website where you have the option to choose a date and time to suit yourself.

Have a look at the link below; this is a direct link to the RSGB Foundation Licence information.

If you are registered on a training course we can offer practical assessment which will greatly assist you when you obtain your licence and have your first on air contact.

You are more than welcome to visit our club where we can assist you with your venture into the world of amateur radio.
