During the CQ WW, WPX, Russian DX and IOTA contests, we operate \u2018multi-two\u2019 (i.e. both operators may call \u2018CQ\u2019 simultaneously<span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">);<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Most of our contests involve single-mode operation \u2013 either SSB or CW, only. The exceptions are the IOTA Contest and \u2013 should we decide to participate \u2013 the Russian DX, both of which we choose to do as \u2018mixed-mode\u2019 (using both CW and SSB).<\/p>\n<p>We consistently operate QRO, at the full UK legal limits, subject to contests\u2019 rules. Facilitating this are two linear amplifiers \u2013 one for each transceiver.<\/p>\n<p>The masts and antennas available to us ensure that the most is made of the RF boosted by the linears:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>TH5 and TH6 Yagis \u2013 both on trailer-mounted towers \u2013 covering the 20-, 15- and 10-metre bands;<\/li>\n<li>Two Hustler verticals (multi-band; especially effective on 15 and 10 metres);<\/li>\n<li>Full-size dipoles for 40, 80 and 160 metres;<\/li>\n<li>Verticals for 80 and 40 metres<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All logging is done by PC, and the transceivers are fully computer (\u2018CAT\u2019)-controlled and networked, using WinTest or N1MM software. A reliable Internet connection, allowing the use of the DX Cluster and Reverse Beacon Network when contest rules permit. We also have our own SDR based at the site.<\/p>\n<p>The operators are protected from the Peak District elements by a cosy caravan.
