EJ6KP – Tory Island 2022

Mini Dxpedition to Tory Island, Co Donegal – Monday 13th to Saturday 18th June 2022

Tory Island EU-121

After a year or two’s break our intrepid three, Pete M1PTR, Tom M0DCG and Kieron M5KJM/EI6KP are once again on their travels and will be setting sail for Tory Island, Co Donegal on Monday 13th June returning Saturday 18th June.

The team will be on the island for three nights operating as EJ6KP/P from the beach, tide permitting using a battery powered Yaesu FT897 running 100W into a VDA (Vertical Dipole Array) on 20 Metres and possibly 15 Metres. A half size G5RV is also planned in the back garden of their accommodation to allow operation on 40 Metres.

Operation will be mostly SSB and for IOTA chasers, the reference is EU-121. As for the callsign, EJ is the Irish prefix signifying operation on an island.

Listen for EJ6KP around the usual IOTA Frequencies of 14.260MHz and 21.260MHz.

The team’s last mini Dxpedition to Inishmaan in 2019 netted around 500 QSO’s with best DX being VK5MAV, Andy in South Australia. This year they are hoping to better that haul and would like to work as many SRS members as possible for whom a special QSL card will be available.

Internet is available on the island, and the team should have access to the cluster and other information tools.

If you would like a sked, please email ej6kp@g8srs.co.uk and the team will do their best to accommodate.
